Looking for an internship where you can gain hands-on experience while making a meaningful impact in your community?

At Food Access LA, our interns play an active role in building a more equitable food system across Los Angeles. Through our internship program, you’ll work alongside our team, gain real-world nonprofit experience, develop valuable professional skills, and contribute to programs that connect communities with fresh, healthy food and support local farmers and small businesses. Whether you’re interested in community engagement, food access, communications, nonprofit management, or program development, there are opportunities to learn, grow, and make a difference.

Current Opportunities

  • Interns will work with one of our departments or farmers’ markets to support social and digital media projects. Interns will learn about digital media strategy, outreach, and communications in a nonprofit.

  • Interns will be responsible for assisting with communications, fundraising, program coordination, event planning, and on site projects. Interns will learn how to work with board members, speak with donors, and about fundraising strategy for a nonprofit. Click here for more details.

  • Our Little Tokyo Farmers’ Market is currently seeking an intern who can support with booking and coordinating performers for our weekly market. Click here for more details.

  • Interns are responsible for supporting the Director of Food Distribution with key strategy and logistics planning with a primary focus on data collection, sales and inventory tracking, and will assist on-site at our farmers’ markets. Click here for more details.

  • Interns will learn about nutrition education, data analysis, recipe demonstration, and more. This is an ideal position for those interested in community nutrition education or for Undergraduate or Graduate students (i.e., Master of Public Health, Nutrition, and Dietetic interns). Timeline

Internships are based on student’s availability and school schedule. Our interns generally serve between 9-12 hours per week. While these time frames work best for most students, all scheduling, including start/end dates and hours per week, are flexible and negotiated between the candidate and the supervisor during the interview stage of the selection process. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. 

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for interns who are reliable, flexible, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and project management skills are also valued.

During the interview process, we’ll consider your educational goals, interests, and previous experience to determine how the internship can best support your learning and professional development.
