eat! The Farmers Market: A CSA Program

We are now offering a farmers-market-wide CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Program to be distributed through our eat! program. The CSA Program is different than other online ordering options or box subscriptions in that you are directly investing in our organization and 5-7 farmers to support over a period of time.

CSA Frequently Asked Questions

How does the CSA Program work?

When you sign up for our CSA program, you are signing up for a weekly box delivery over a set number of weeks. We offer our CSA three times throughout the year to follow the farmers’ seasonal schedules. Each CSA season is about 3-4 months long, or 10 - 16 weeks.

Our eat! Food Distribution team packs boxes at our Atwater Village Farmers market with a variety of in season vegetables and fruits curated for you! As a CSA Member, you have the option to choose how you want to receive your box. You can either:

  1. Pay for Home Delivery - this option allows you to receive your box directly to your home! Simply choose the “delivery zone” on the sign-up page that matches your home address. You will be charged a delivery fee, which varies based on distance from the market. The delivery fee starts as low as $5 per delivery

  2. Pick Up Your Box from a Pick-up Site - if you want to avoid delivery fees, you can pick-up your box for free from one of our community pick-up locations. All of our pick-up site locations are listed on the sign-up page!

On the sign-up page, click the “Map” tab to view a map of our pick-up sites and delivery zones.

How much does the box cost?

We offer one box size that is great for a single person or couple that cooks and eats a lot of fresh produce. It's also good for a small family of 3-4 people who cook a few meals per week. If you find the box is too small for your family, you can always get two boxes or opt to add on eggs and bread with your delivery for heartier meals. For our Summer 2025 season, we are offering the option to sign up for a weekly delivery (18 deliveries) or a bi-weekly delivery (10 deliveries). At check out, you can choose to pay monthly, or in full, whichever option works best for you!

Summer 2025 Pricing:

Biweekly Schedule: $440 | 10 deliveries | $44/box

Weekly Schedule: $792 | 18 deliveries | $44/box

*Home Delivery Fees:

Varies based on your distance from the farmer's market. Estimated to be about $1 per mile from the market.

*There is no charge to pick up your CSA box from the Atwater Village Farmers market or from any of our community pick-up sites!

Add-Ons:

We also offer “add-on” shares for those who want to receive a weekly delivery of a specific product. We hope to add more in the future, but for now we offer these add-on options:

Eggs: $12 per delivery

Sourdough: $10 per delivery

What’s in the box?

We curate our CSA boxes with 5-7 farmers each week! We work with our farmers to choose what is the best in season or whatever they recommend from their fields each week. Sometimes we even get special items that don't make it out to the market because there is only a small crop of the produce! Being in our CSA is a great way to try new produce items you may not know about or wouldn't have picked for yourself at the market!

We like to think of our CSA box as a weekly surprise from the farmer's market! However, we do e-mail you about 2-3 days before the delivery so that you have an idea of what's coming in the box and can plan ahead for your week. Our team curates a weekly e-mail that lists produce information and nutritional content for all of the produce items, as well as recipe ideas and tips for how to cook and store the produce

What happens if I go on vacation?

Don't worry, we understand that people take vacations in the summer and life gets busy! When you sign up, you can opt to pay in 4 installments so that you are only charged a monthly fee. If you already know the dates you will be out of town, simply login to your account where you will be able to access a “Delivery Hold” tab. You can then input the dates you are out of down to “hold” your delivery. The system won't charge you for deliveries you will miss in the upcoming months! If you end up paying for dates you will miss, we offer the following credit options:

  • Credit on your account to use for an extra box at any point in the season, adding eggs or bread to any deliveries, purchasing extra produce in the online store, etc.,

  • Coupon code for the next CSA season

  • Refund to your credit card

The CSA runs May - end of August, so we understand people may need to skip a few deliveries. This is why we are also offering a bi-weekly delivery this year. You can always e-mail our team to let us know the dates you will be out, and we can manually sign you up or adjust things on our end to make the delivery schedule work for you - don't be afraid to reach out, we are happy to help!

Why order a CSA box instead of shopping at the farmers’ market?

If you don’t have time to stop by a farmers’ market and want to eat healthier, then the CSA box is for you! You get fresh, seasonal produce right after it’s harvested. There’s no better way to eat healthier and support your local farmers. Choose to pick up or have your box delivered to you.
