Meeting the SNAP Crisis Together
Updated: November 3, 2025
Standing with Our Farmers and Neighbors
Across Los Angeles, thousands of households that depend on SNAP (CalFresh) to feed their families are suddenly facing $0 balances. These delays are not only leaving families without access to healthy, affordable food, but they’re also putting enormous strain on the small farmers and vendors who rely on those sales to sustain their livelihoods.
At Food Access LA, we’re taking action.
Our Immediate Response
Starting immediately, anyone visiting our markets with a $0 CalFresh/SNAP balance will receive market credit to help offset the loss of benefits and ensure continued access to fresh, local food.
We know it’s not enough to fill the entire gap, but it’s a start. Every dollar helps a family put nutritious food on their table and helps a farmer continue to thrive.
If you are in need of assistance, please visit the info booth at any of our markets.
Emergency Food & Market Support Fund
We’ve also launched an Emergency Food & Market Support Fund to stretch our limited resources further.
All funds raised will go directly toward:
Providing market credits for CalFresh customers who have lost benefits.
Supplementing income for local farmers affected by decreased sales.
Sustaining market operations that connect people and producers across Los Angeles.
Your contribution will enable us to respond quickly and ensure that both families and farmers receive support during this critical time.
💚 Donate today to help us keep LA’s local food system strong.
Why It Matters
SNAP (CalFresh) has long been one of the most effective tools for reducing hunger and strengthening local food systems. When that safety net disappears, the ripple effects reach everyone:
Families lose access to the foods they know and trust.
Farmers lose the stable sales that keep their businesses running.
Our regional food economy weakens.
By standing together, we can keep our markets thriving and ensure that healthy, local food remains accessible to all Angelenos.
