Caring for Yourself & Others is giving attention to your well-being and the well-being of others. Examples of healthy self-care activities include: being in nature, going for a walk, talking to a friend, playing music, reading, and journaling.
Taking Downtime. Taking even short breaks from overly scheduled days and weeks. Think of five things you can do to take some downtime. The next time you are stressed, do one of these downtime activities.
Gratitude. Take a moment to appreciate what you have in your life. Think of what you are grateful for in some of the following areas: your basic needs being met, family, friends, abilities, talents, strengths and successes.
Acts of Kindness. Doing something for someone else can help you feel better. Examples include: telling someone you care about them, listening without interrupting, giving a hug, helping a friend or complimenting someone.
Let it Go Box. Letting something go doesn’t imply forgiveness or mean it didn’t happen. Write down things you would like to let go of. Put them in a box, and let them go. You don’t have to hold onto them anymore. Doing this can be a release and reduce your stress.
What Brings You Happiness, Peace and Joy? Set a timer for two minutes and list all the things that bring you happiness, peace and joy. Now ask a friend or family member the same question and listen. Notice the feeling.
Celebrate Who You Are. Recognizing your unique qualities is important. On a piece of paper, list: your strengths, talents, your fun quirks and your values. Ask a few people to help you if you feel stuck. Celebrate imperfection!
